Who we are
Swing Assist is a golf app published by Real World Cyber Solutions LLC (“we”, “us”). In this policy, “the app” means Swing Assist for Android.
What stays on your device
- Your handedness, favorite shots, My Bag selections (including clubs you add, their loft and shaft notes) and club distances.
- Your profile: height, wrist-to-floor and hand measurements, handicap index, and your club-fit answers.
- Rounds you play: scores, the clubs you log, and the GPS positions where you logged shots.
- Range sessions you enter and the history of measured distances for each club.
- Statistics the app calculates from those shots, such as your average distance and left/right miss for each club.
- Downloaded course maps and scorecards, so you can play without a signal.
- Your free-trial start date and which features you have unlocked.
This information is not sent to us. It is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage. You can also delete a round, or an individual distance entry, inside the app.
Permissions the app uses, and why
| Permission | What we use it for |
|---|---|
| Precise and approximate location ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION |
Finds golf courses near you, measures the distance from you to the green, records where you hit each shot so your club distances can be calculated, and picks the weather and elevation for your spot. The app reads your location only while it is open and in use. It does not track you in the background. Your location is not sent to us. See “Services the app contacts” below for the limited requests that include coordinates. |
| Internet access INTERNET |
Downloads course lists, scorecards, hole maps, weather and elevation, and connects to Google Play for purchases (and to an ad network in the free version, if enabled). |
The app does not ask for access to your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files or phone number. Location is optional: without it you can still browse every shot guide, keep score by hand, and use the Shot Planner and Club Fit guide.
Services the app contacts
To work, the app asks a few public data services for information. Like any internet request, these services can see your device’s IP address. We do not control their logs. We don’t send them your name, email or any account identifier.
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| OpenGolfAPI (opengolfapi.org) | Your approximate coordinates when you tap “Find courses near me”, or the course name you search for, and the ID of the course you open. | Course search and scorecards. |
| OpenStreetMap, through the Overpass API | The coordinates of the course you open (not your position). | Hole lines, greens, bunkers and water. |
| National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) | Your approximate coordinates while you play. | Wind, temperature, humidity, pressure and recent rain. |
| U.S. Geological Survey (epqs.nationalmap.gov) | Coordinates of your position and the green. | Ground elevation for uphill/downhill and altitude adjustments. |
| Google Play | Purchase and subscription information, handled by Google. | Billing. |
Purchases
Payments are processed by Google Play. We never see or store your card or payment details. We receive confirmation of what you purchased (for example a purchase token and product ID), which we use only to unlock the features you bought. Google’s handling of your payment information is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy.
Advertising in the free version
The free version shows ads. When ad serving is turned on, ads are provided by a third-party ad network (Google AdMob). That network may collect and use device identifiers such as the Android advertising ID, and information about your device and ad interactions, under its own privacy policy. Ads are only shown on browsing screens, never during a round. A Smart Caddie or Shot Planner subscription, Platinum or Diamond removes ads. You can reset or opt out of ad personalization in your Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads). We will update this section before ads are turned on in a release if the provider or the data it collects changes.
Beta program
Joining the beta program is voluntary. If you sign up or take part, we collect the information you give us, including your name, email address, device details you tell us about, and everything you send us afterwards, such as feedback, bug reports, screenshots and other correspondence (together, “beta information”). We receive it by email at support@swing-assist.com or through the tools we use to run the beta, such as Google Play testing tracks.
We keep beta information for as long as we choose. We may use, reproduce, analyze, share and disclose it as we see fit, including to run and improve the app, to contact you about the beta and our products, and in marketing, subject to applicable law. Do not send us anything you are not comfortable with us keeping and using this way. If you want us to delete your beta information, email us and we will consider your request in line with applicable law.
Beta information is separate from the data that stays on your phone as described above. The statements in this policy about data that stays on your device do not apply to what you send us.
What we do with data
We do not sell the golf data in the app, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles. Because that data stays on your device, we do not have it to share. Beta information is handled as described under “Beta program” above.
Children
Swing Assist is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
- Turn off location for the app in Android settings at any time. Features that need your position will stop working, and the rest of the app will continue to work.
- Turn off “Track shots and learn my distances” on the Play screen to stop using your shots to update club distances.
- Delete rounds or individual distance entries in the app, or uninstall the app, to remove everything we store on your device.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in the Google Play Store app.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
